If acumen is the ability to make good judgments and quick decisions, typically in a particular domain, then "Professional Acumen" refers to your ability to think and act in a professional context. It doesn't matter what level of an organization, being able to act on your best thinking makes you more valuable. The Developing Professional Excellence Series focuses on building professional acumen. This series focuses on building competencies in three areas:
Self-Acumen
People Acumen
Business-Acumen
Often labeled “soft skills,” this content is anything but soft. Developing these skills and competencies will make you indispensable to your organization.
The Self-Acumen course introduces the Total Performer model as a tool to understand competencies. You will explore the role focus, pace, and energy play in accessing your best thinking and offering your peak performance.
Objectives:
- Develop an understanding and appreciation for the self-acumen core competencies of Focus, Pace, and Energy
- Explore activities and exercises that develop skills and competency
- Define the desired level of competency in each area
- Determine your current level of competency in each area
- Create a plan to develop desired competencies

and social competencies outlined in the Total Performer Model, you will walk
away with insights and tools that will increase your influence and help you effectively
manage your relationships with peers, direct reports, supervisors, and your
network.
